The purpose of the Budget Committee is to review the recommendations of the town manager for the annual budget and make changes as deemed appropriate. Chapter 2 of the Rangeley Town Code (PDF), the Budget Committee shall meet with the Board of Selectmen at least once prior to May 15, and shall submit its own final recommendations to the Board of Selectmen not later than May 20.

The Budget Committee shall be composed of 7 members elected at the town meeting. Members shall be elected for a term of 3 years. The first 3 members shall be elected in 1 year, 2 members shall be elected in each of the following 2 years, then the rotation shall start anew. In the case of a vacancy, the board of selectmen shall appoint a member to serve until the next annual town meeting to finish the unexpired term.
